June 2017 Prayer Update

We’re on the road again. On May 15th we flew from Australia into Dallas, Texas – the world’s longest flight (15hrs 30mins non-stop) on the world’s biggest plane (the double decker A380). After a day and night of recovery we travelled 2 hours east to Lindale, Texas where we stayed with book our editor Scott Tompkins. He and his wife Sandi hosted an author’s night for us to share our book River People with a small gathering. Their home is a short walk to Lake Hideaway.

Then we had a couple days at Mercy Ships, also in Lindale, Texas where Josephine offered a Wellness for Women workshop where she taught making Kefir and other probiotic foods and introduced the benefits of Tumerix and making Tumerix Latte’s that everyone enjoyed tasting.

The week of May 22-26 we gave a one-week Development and Heart Transformation seminar in YWAM Orlando, Florida. The YWAM Orlando outreach director Karl hosted a gathering of 20+ students from the School of Ministry Development and another 10 from the Justice Team. Kent taught on developmental thinking and workshopped the basics of development, project design, community assessment and seed projects – small scale community projects. Josephine taught on Heart Transformation and did workshops on Primary Health Care and Midwifery. Thank you for praying. We could see the impact of prayer during this week in Orlando.

We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday as a day of rest at the lakeside museum and sculpture gardens of the Czech-American sculptor Albin Polasek (see photos). So beautiful.

We are now in Tijuana. In 2014 we planted the Community Development School (CD School) and we led it again in 2015. In 2016 and in 2017 it is led by two very capable YWAM leaders and mothers, Andrea and Susie. We are excited to spend two weeks here now. Kent will teach in the Discipleship Training School on Missions and World View in week 1 then on Developmentoring and Leadership in the CD School. I will speak in the CD School week 1 on Wellness on the mission field – spiritually, physically and emotionally. This includes my Heart Transformation teaching. I will also be doing some practical and personal ministry with all 17 students. Our nephew Dan Thomas and his wife Fia are coming down from Palo Alto with a small team to teach and do outreach. We will certainly have a lot of fun together!

After Tijuana Josephine goes to Omaha, Nebraska to lead a Wellness for Women Seminar on Saturday June 10th while Kent flies straight to Kona, Hawaii where he teaches a week on Authority, Delegation, Power and Structural Change in the School of Legislative Advocacy and Social Change. Then our last week of teaching will be in Honolulu June 19-23 on the School of Missions and Evangelism. In Sydney we speak in a church and a Christian school before returning home on June 28th. We love and appreciate your prayer. Thank you so much. Let us know how we can pray for you too.
